Author Biography

Rick Spilman has spent most of his life around the ships and the sea. "Evening Gray Morning Red" is his third novel. A professional naval architect and an avid sailor, Rick has sailed as volunteer crew on the square-riggers "HMS Rose" and "HMS Bounty," as well as sailing on a range of vessels along the East and Gulf coasts, the Caribbean, the Great Lakes and Ireland. Rick is the founder and host of the Old Salt Blog. He has been published in the Huffington Post, gCaptain, Forbes online, and several outdoor print magazines. He is a Cooley Award Winner in short fiction at the University of Michigan. His novel "The Shantyman" was selected as one of Kirkus Reviews' Best Indie Books for 2015.
