Author Biography

Eva Thorne, back in 1984 and speaking very little English, flew to the British Channel Island of Guernsey to spend a few weeks holiday there with her restaurant owning relatives. At a dinner party one night she met her future English husband Tony, invited that evening because he claimed to know a little German! She still is waiting to know who was that little German! One thing led to another and a few months later they were married on Christmas Eve. They lived in Guernsey until 1989, when they moved to England, to a newly converted Old Coach House in the village of Chedzoy, Somerset. Then in 1998 they moved to their house in Austria, near Vienna. Since her marriage, Eva has become fluent in English and while living abroad, has introduced her Viennese catering skills to local friends and neighbours, as well as to her lucky husband and his relatives. Many of the recipes in this book have been enjoyed by enthusiastic and appreciative guests, and in some cases during stays of several days at a time!
