There are, for example, abstracts founded on land and probate records, marriage bonds and ministers' returns, order books, wills, deeds, parish registers, newspapers (e.g., the "Virginia Gazette," private letters and diaries, and much more. Most of the records pertain to the 17th and 18th centuries. Supplementing the records themselves are genealogical tables and a bibliography of sources.
