He rises to the rank of senior surgeon for the whole of Northern Nigeria and is the personal physician to the local emirs and the prime minister. A man of great principle and integrity, he often clashes with British officers and other physicians who see him as a threat. Yet, his moral purpose and integrity earn him powerful allies and protectors.
