The book is narrated by Drew Bees, a dog who finds himself in foster care. Its purpose is to get children to discuss difficult things that Drew Bees describes as the "ruff stuff." In the end, it gives them hope that, no matter their circumstances, there are people who will talk with them about their feelings, and there is always hope for a better life.
