Product Description

by Bill Wangemann (Author)

This book is a compilation of articles that appeared in the Sheboygan Press during 2003. They were written at the request of the Sheboygan Press staff to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the city of Sheboygan. The title of the book hearkens back to a time when going to Prange's Department Store meant much more than just shopping at a specific store. "Down by Prange's" is just part of the old German phrase, "Meet me down by Prange's where the streetcar bends." The book is about the people who founded Sheboygan, its industries and schools, commerce and leisure activities. Included are stories about Lake Michigan and its influence on the city. Delightful, funny and colorful, this book will take you back to old Sheboygan.
