"Death comes for us all. When it comes for Blackthorn... it shall know my name."
From the author of Wait a Season for Their Names, comes another engaging, thoroughly researched, wildlife story in the series of African Painted Wolf Novels, told through animal eyes.
Blackthorn, a lonely old African Painted Wolf, wanders through the African savanna searching for other wild dogs of his kind. His longing and instincts for the pack initially lead to him hunting with a hyena.
Eventually finding a group of captive wild dogs to hunt with, the old and wily Blackthorn struggles to teach this pack to survive in the wild. Survival is the key theme in their world full of dangers. This primal drive to survive is richly woven into a tapestry revealing an occasional sense of hopelessness, and an existential dread of a dying, disappearing wild.
Take the journey through animal eyes, and discover Blackthorn's fate in a well-written, gripping wildlife epic for fans of Watership Down and White Fang.
All proceeds of the sale of this book will go to wildlife conservation organizations that protect the African wild dog, an endangered species.
