Things quickly get out of hand, leading to devastating consequences for certain local citizens. Once trouble like this is started, it can be hard to rein in. It sometimes takes on a life of its own.

RICH CURTIN is the author of the popular Manny Rivera Mystery Series. He has spent many enjoyable days and nights hiking, jeeping, rafting, and camping out in the backcountry of the Four Corners area.
