Author Biography
Hi, I am Roy Lacy my family could be called Liverpool Irish. Both of my Grandparents were from an Irish background. In, my twenties together with my wife Marjorie we moved into a life of sales and marketing. Along the way, our two children David and Catherine were born. A typical if not an exciting life of a well-balanced family. Once retired and in my mid-seventies, completely out of character my life changed. Neither a scholar, historian or academic I decided to write a book. Now re-issued with an improved sentence structure for better reading. Pontefract Castle had advertised a summer picnic together with historical enactments. On arrival; my excited nine-year-old Grandson ran to look at the first information board which showed an illustration of Ilbert de Lacy the founder of the castle. "Grandad the man who built the castle was called Lacy as well. Did it used to be our castle"? "Oh, yes" teased his mother. Louis started quizzing me, as only a nine-year-old can. Louis wanted to know, did we (he) have a claim on the castle! There were so many more questions as the day went on about the de Lacy family. I promised Louis that I would research a few de Lacy facts for him... I had no idea, what I had agreed to. My de Lacy quest had started! Three years later I am ready to share these chronicles with you.
