Product Description

by Waldo Wilburn Montgomery Jr. (Author)

Millions of people visit Yellowstone National Park every year. Some bring Man's Best Friend with them. I bring mine as well. Twice a year in the spring and fall, my four-legged pal, Dawson, an American Eskimo, and I make a three-day pilgrimage from our home in Central Texas to Yellowstone to see wolves and other wildlife. Much has been written about the wonders of Yellowstone from a myriad of human perspectives, but not much, I wager, has been written about the park from a dog's perspective. And that's what makes this book, "Dawson Goes to Yellowstone," so uniquely different and entertaining. Over the years, Dawson has become a popular and readily identifiable figure in the park--everybody knows Dawson On the other hand, me (Waldo), his sidekick and questionable "owner," umm..probably not so much. Typically, women visitors in the park would come up to me and say, "Oh, I recognized Dawson right away when we drove up What a handsome boy " Then as an afterthought, much to my chagrin, add, "Oh, and are you Waldo?" One of Dawson's many Facebook admirers recently suggested that he publish a book about his adventures in Yellowstone. Then another friend commented, "Yeah, he's certainly in enough pictures on Facebook " So, I consulted with Dawson and got his reaction. Not surprisingly, he thought it was a wonderful idea Hand and paw we worked together selecting photos and crafted real life stories about them. Incidentally, many of these are true. Also not surprising, he wanted the story told entirely from his perspective and written in such a way that children of all ages would enjoy it. With just a little help from me, I feel that Dawson has succeeded in this wonderful endeavor. We both hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did putting it together. And if you are ever in Yellowstone National Park in May and October, look for a handsome white American Eskimo dog with a crowd of admirers gathered around him. That will be Dawson. For what it's worth, I will also be somewhere close by--oh, and the name's, Waldo.
