Product Description

by Maribeth Gray (Editor)

Swami Narayanananda teaches that brahmacharya and mind-control are necessary to attain the aim of life known as Freedom or Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Brahmacharya is only possible with mind control and is necessary for the rising of the kundalini shakti to the sahasrara chakra where spiritual Enlightenment takes place. Swami Narayanananda teaches that whenever possible, brahmacharya should be practiced and encourages those living a family or householder life to have a regulated sexual life. Mind control makes the mind pure, subtle and one-pointed so one can get a glimpse of the true Self. The three main practices to achieve mind control are:

1. Living a pure, simple, and holy (ethical) life, 2. Mantra-jap: repetition of the mantra, 3. Meditation: constantly taking the Divine name (mantra) and living in the Divine Form.
