Product Description

by V. Kusske (Author)

In the 1970's and 80's there were unscrupulous local government leaders who tolerated "victimless" crimes. Gambling, drugs, and prostitution were tolerated by the local authorities for many years until some very wicked men came to town. These men showed the locals how to increase business by adding racketeering in insurance fraud, arson, assault, extortion, gambling, loan sharking, and murder to the list of "victimless" crimes. Many years of organized crime left the Yakima community reeling with fear and a dreadful reputation throughout the nation.
State Farm Insurance Investigator and former police foot patrol officer, Joe Creed, is tasked with leading a team investigating old insurance claims and crimes in Yakima in an attempt to identify future high-risk conditions the company would want to avoid. Criminal charges cannot be brought because of the statute of limitations, except in the case of homicide. Some fruit barons and warehouse owners are unhappy about the investigations and want it stopped at all costs. A large red glow in the sky marks the location of the final, lethal encounter.
