Core Oral Surgery is written for undergraduate dental students to prepare them for Oral Surgery clinical practice but particularly to reach the standard required for their qualifying dentistry examinations. It is also intended as a guide to the knowledge required for overseas graduates preparing for the Overseas Registration Examination of the United Kingdom General Dental Council and for students at universities abroad who have a similar curriculum to the UK.
With there being so much to potentially learn about the mouth and jaws it is necessary to guide candidates as to what it is reasonable for them to know at undergraduate level as opposed to more comprehensive surgical knowledge appropriate for post graduate trainees.
The authors have between them many years of experience as teachers and examiners in Oral Surgery at undergraduate and post graduate level.
