Bible interpretation cannot be detached from the context(s) of contemporary Christian Bible readers. Historically, Western biblical scholarship has placed itself atop the global interpretative hierarchy, limiting the issue of context to the ancient world of the Bible, while marginalizing the hermeneutical endeavors of the geopolitical South.
