Product Description

by Linda K. Decamp (Author)

Coming from Cumberland reframes the story of a child being born at home and living off- the-grid deep in a back-country woods in Cumberland County, Tennessee in the early1940's. The first years of her life have shown her nothing about a life outside of the homestead. Her childhood is even more complicated by being the oldest daughter in a sometimes difficult and challenging family.

Her life grows and changes as the family emigrates to Ohio. Nothing has prepared her for meeting the town folks in an Ohio neighborhood and beginning school soon after the move. She presents her childhood with some incidents of colorful humor.

The story progresses to her marrying young and working through a college education while raising her family. She fiercely comes of age in the 1970's women's movement.

If you're rooting for the author, despite a rough road with some challenges along the way, she does find her way to a great family life of travel, gratitude and peaceful living in a suburban adult lifestyle.
