Author Biography

About the Poet, Karen Ann Cicmansky Karen is a poet residing with Midland Adult Residences. Living in a special needs community, she has gained a better understanding of her own neurological disability, while accepting her peers for who they are. She has continually written poetry as a means to express her most inner emotions. She sees life in its most simplistic form; yet writes in a manner, which brings her readers into the moment. Yearning for others to treat her with dignity and respect, she writes this book with the hope that "anything is possible" if you put your mind to it. About the Artist, Nancy Edwards Nancy Edwards has been an artist most of her life. She is skilled in watercolor, oil and acrylic painting. As Karen Ann's natural aunt, she brought Karen to live with her when she was only 4 years old. She soon became known as "Mom". As a single parent struggling with Fibromyalgia, art has always been an escape and form of relaxation. Nancy has displayed her work in many exhibitions, including at Lincoln Center, NYC. She worked for 18 years at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NewJersey with adolescents who had behavior, psychological and neurological disabilities. She utilized art as a means for her patients to express themselves. Nancy was married to her husband Hank in 2006 and both became legal guardians of Karen Ann, now known as her "Mom and Pops".
