Author Biography

Tensie J. Taylor is from Louisburg, North Carolina. She graduated from North Carolina State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication-Media concentration-and a minor in Psychology and from the University of Southern California in 2014 with a Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. Currently, Tensie is the Assistant Director of the USC Black Alumni Association and in this role, she plans, coordinates, and executes programs and events for the Black Alumni Association; directs the Legacy through Leadership Mentorship Program, and assists with Toastmasters International. Tensie also serves on the Board of Directors for the We Are Ohana Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to finding resources and helping foster youth in Los Angeles. In addition to working at USC, Tensie is a red carpet host for the online network Rich Girl Network. TV. As a host, she has interviewed numerous celebrities at galas, charity functions, community service events, award shows, and film festivals. Tensie has attended the Oscars, People's Choice Awards, BET's Celebration of Gospel, NAACP Image Awards, Grammys, and BET Awards. Tensie's hobbies include reading, writing, singing, playing the piano and trumpet, volunteering, mentoring young people, and traveling. One of Tensie's favorite quotes is by Mahatma Gandhi: "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." Tensie has recited and traveled across the United States making presentations and speeches since the age of three. Tensie is available to speak at seminars, conferences, galas, awards shows, schools, colleges, universities, and churches. In addition, she is available to sing and play the piano and trumpet at celebrations, concerts, and performances. Tensie has played the piano nationally and internationally, including Europe and Africa.
