Product Description

by Duane Harder (Author)

What a tragedy King Hezekiah is given a fifteen-year extension to his life and at the same time is told that his sons would be taken into captivity in Babylon. His response - "That's fine. At least there will be peace and truth while I'm alive." Our absorption with the present has dulled our vision for the future. My prayer is that as you read this book you will be inspired to think generationally. You will discover: Seven symptoms of hypocrisy that nullify our influence and turn out the light of truth. Seven myths that have the sound of truth. Ideological weapons that subvert us and nullify the legacy of truth. Insights that will help you build a solid biblical foundation for a generational legacy. The book does not present quick fix solutions, however, It does challenge you to a way of life that crosses cultural traditions and transcends time. In the movie, I Can Only Imagine, Bart Millard, the composer of the song by the same title, is asked by Amy Grant how long it took to write the song. Bart's response is, "Maybe ten minutes." To which Amy Grant replies, "It didn't take you minutes; it took you a lifetime." How long did it take to write this book? A lifetime. It conveys: The wisdom of my father. The godly counsel of a spiritual father, Dr. Pickford. The encouragement of an older sibling, Eugene, and a "spiritual big brother," Bob Holmes. The influence of hundreds of authors too numerous to name. Godly children and their spouses who have encouraged me to write. Above all, the faithful support of my beloved wife who believed in me, stood with me and supported me in our journey together. May you extract from this book the grace of God that has been richly given through so many sources. Following graduation from Northwest Baptist Theological College in 1964, Duane began a mentoring relationship with a registered psychologist in Vancouver that would give him the equivalent of an MA in clinical psychology. He also took some selected courses from the U. Vic, UCLA and University of Minnesota. During this time, he was also pastoring. (1963-1981) 1963 - 1981 Pastored in Campbell River and Castlegar, BC 1981 - 2005 Established a private counseling practice in Vernon; 1983 - 2001 Adjunct faculty at King's Bible College; 1985 - 2005 Adjunct faculty at Living Faith Bible College; 1985 - (Present) Oversight to Churches in N.A. and overseas; 1991 - 2005 Adjunct faculty at GMF Christian University in Lagos; Worked developmentally with two registered psychologists in Lethbridge, AB; Conducted stress management seminars for hospitals and several companies plus leadership seminars for a variety of businesses and Churches. Duane and his wife Marva were married in 1964 and presently live in Bragg Creek, AB He has authored 2 books, written many articles and is in the process of writing a third book. Duane and Marva have 3 children, 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is the primary caregiver to his wife who suffers the consequences of Post-Polio Syndrome.
