Melvin was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the product of teenage parents. Melvin faced the obstacles of a fatherless household. As an adult, Melvin has faced divorce, being a single parent to a female child, remarrying and dealing with the role of stepfather. Melvin earned an Associate's of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Cuyahoga Community College, a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree in Organizational Management from Tiffin University, and a Master's of Science degree in Leadership at Walden University.
