Product Description

by Kate Cunningham (Author), Sam Cunningham (Illustrator)

Benji and the Gunpowder Plot is the first in the Time Tumblers series.

Benji thinks he is just an ordinary boy, but when he falls down a time tunnel he lands in 1605 and the midst of men who are organising the Gunpowder Plot. As an apprentice to a Master Cutler - maker of swords - he delivers swords to the Plotters, the actors at the Globe Theatre and to the King himself. He finds himself responsible for delivering the crucial letter that will reveal the Plotters and determine if Parliament is saved or destroyed.

Along the way he finds out more about himself and his missing father, but will he succeed and will he be able to get safely home?

The story reveals the life for a child in the turbulent times at the start of the seventeenth century. The characters he meets are real players in the action. The book includes an illustrated cast list of the main characters clarifying who is real and who is fictional, and a summary of facts in the Afterword at the end.
