She grew up in a privileged household and was educated in the arts and sciences. In 1641, she married Charles Rich, the Viscount of Dunluce, and became the Countess of Warwick when her father died in 1659.In her memoir, Mary Rich describes her life as a member of the aristocracy, including her relationships with her husband, children, and other members of the court. She also discusses her religious beliefs and her experiences during the English Civil War, which took place from 1642 to 1651.The Autobiography of Mary Countess of Warwick provides a unique perspective on life in 17th century England, particularly for women of the aristocracy.
