Product Description

by David L. Cockerline (Author)

An Angel Unaware is a memoir of my reluctant, but transforming experience with Norwegian Elkhounds. It spans 30 years, four New England states, our owner built house, an 18th century home rehab and a 19th century house project in Down East Maine. It recounts moments in our lives of sailing, cycling and dog showing, as well as the usual adversity that tends to come one's way Most of this played out in the presence of our six Elkhounds, who were a constant and a witness to our various interactions with life. Central to the memoir is the rescue of a funny, dirty, little brown dog, who much to my surprise, turned out to be an Elkhound He outlived the average Elkhound by many years, living successfully into his 20s. For a dog who seemingly arrived as a problem to be solved, he became a rescue to me, a balancing element in our lives and the fixer of many of the difficult situations that came our way, There was nothing coincidental or even serendipitous about his arrival, but it took me quite some time to admit it
