Product Description

by Hank Brown (Foreword by), John Suthers (Author)

"John Suthers' memoir offers the reader his personal story with an insightful account of a public service career that balances what is right and what is necessary."

Born out of wedlock and adopted as an infant, he lost his adoptive parents at a young age. The trauma of his father's untimely death caused him, as a teenager, to resolve to live a life of purpose and consequence-- to become a good ancestor. After attending Notre Dame and the University of Colorado Law School on scholarships, Suthers embarked on a legal career that took him from the local courthouse to the U.S. Supreme Court. He completed the ""legal trifecta,"" serving as district attorney, U.S. attorney, and state attorney general. He was involved in captivating criminal cases, historic civil cases, and in waging the war on terrorism after 9/11.

Starting in May 2015, Suthers served as the mayor of his hometown of Colorado Springs, leading it through a period of unprecedented prosperity, while overcoming challenges ranging from domestic terrorism to a global pandemic. Having encountered many interesting people along the way, John hopes his life story will help inspire others to make it their goal to become a good ancestor."
