Product Description

by Libico Maraja (Illustrator), Lewis Carroll (Author)

Alice in Wonderland Picture Book is the best introduction for young readers to Caroll's iconic characters.

Lewis Carroll's novels about a girl named Alice and her surreal adventures have been popular since their publication in 1865 and 1871. Neither book has ever been out of print, but many parents find the originals too difficult for young children. Many simplified and abridged versions of Alice have since been published. This Alice in Wonderland Picture Book is the best of them. It serves as the perfect introduction to Alice and Carroll's world of marvelous madness.

Our Alice in Wonderland Picture Book features several major episodes of the story illustrated by Italian mid-century illustrator, Maraja. Striking and imaginative, these pictures help make the text come alive in the minds of young readers. Accompanying these vibrant images is a very simple text. Great for reading with an adult or alone, this text retains Carroll's madcap tone while ensuring an appropriate experience for beginning readers.

This book is the quintessential Alice introduction. Watch how it piques your child's curiosity and sense of humor!

Author Biography

Libico Maraja (pen name Maraja) (1912 - 1983) was an Italian illustrator best known in the United States and the U.K. for his lively illustrated versions of such classic books as A Christmas Carol, Gulliver's Travels, The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, Tales from Hans Andersen, and many more. His career in Italy was long and diverse. In addition to his successful book illustration career, Maraja lent his talents to advertising art, sheet music design, comic books, and postage stamp art. He was the chief set designer and animator for one of Italy's first animated films - "The Rose of Baghdad" - (1941) and also designed sets and costumes for ballets.
