Product Description

Full of movement and texture, the soft, shimmery tassel takes center stage on this stunning handmade necklace. Featuring Job's Tears seeds and six large ceramic beads, this piece is proudly named for the town of Alegria, El Salvador -- supporting sustainable jewelry, while empowering women in their communities.

  • Ceramic beads, seeds, & thread
  • 37" (94 cm) circumference necklace
  • Tassel: 3" L x 1" W (7.6 x 2.5 cm)
  • Handmade in & fairly traded from El Salvador

Every Lula Mena design is perfectly handmade by one of the nine Salvadoran communities that work with her. Among these are: communities of women, artisans, and communities at high social risk.
By designing some of her product lines using traditional techniques, Lula tries to contribute to the preservation of these amazing techniques and at the same time, provide steady jobs to high risk communities in rural areas of El Salvador.
Lula focus her work on empowering women in at-risk rural communities in El Salvador by providing them with a steady job. As a result, these women have become the main providers in their home, giving them the ability to send their kids to school. These kids are the first generation in their families to get a high school education. With all of this, important social changes are being made.
