Product Description

by Ry Deshpande (Author)

Sri Aurobindo worked upon Savitri again and again until the kind of yogic-poetic-literary perfection he wanted was achieved, that it could become a Word of Truth and Beauty and Joy in the expression of the Spirit. We have an early letter of his to this effect: "I used Savitri as a means of ascension. I began with it on a certain mental level, each time I could reach a higher level I rewrote from that level." It was a field of experimentation to see how far poetry could be written from a yogic consciousness and how that could be made creative and dynamic. It was a record of spiritual experimentation and realisation. The birth of Savitri was in the tapas-shakti of its creator, the yogi-poet himself.
