Product Description

by Amani Abul Fadl (Author)

Master Abu Muhammad is a smuggler and together, he and his tribe of Sinai Bedouins pump needed supplies into the besieged Gaza through a maze of tunnels. They engage in bloody confrontations, battle with the notorious State Security Forces, and have to manipulate corrupt tunnel 'masters' and spies working for Israel. In order to keep his mission of carrying logistics to the other side confidential, Abu Muhammad exposes even his married life to danger. Ziad the poet dreams of being an ambassador of the Palestinian cause, and is invited to an international poetry contest in Rome to read his poem. The only way he can get there is to pass through a tunnel. Abu Muhammad and Ziad meet in exceptional circumstances and their destinies are reshaped immediately before the atrocious massacre of December 2008 takes place. The novel takes us on a realistic journey through life in the 'underworld' revealing the complex network of human relations and people who refuse to be devastated by the siege. Some find glorious success while others meet with tragedy.
