Author Biography
Oloye "Baba" Ifa Karade Author, Lecturer Oloye Ifa Karade has sojourned to Nigeria, West Africa; Bahia, South America; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Old San Juan, Puerto Rico; Amsterdam, Netherlands, and throughout the United States to gather Afri-centric and global cultural information, data, insights, and related experiences. He has published several nonfiction texts: The Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concepts; Weiser, Inc. (c)1994 {in print English, Spanish, Dutch, German}; Ojise, Messenger of the Yoruba Tradition; Weiser, Inc.(c)1996; and Imoye, A Definition of the Ifa Tradition; Athelia Henrietta Press (c)1999. Of the three texts, The Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concept continues to reign as the book-to-have among students and adherents of the Yoruba/Ifa tradition. Mr. Karade has lectured and/or been a panel speaker at colleges and universities to include Iliff School of Theology, Denver University, Haverford, Temple, Rutgers. He has also been a keynote speaker at World Orisha Conferences in Trinidad & Tobago and San Francisco, Ca., U.S. Mr. Karade has been invited to speak on radio and online radio programs. He's been quoted and/or featured in magazines and newspapers {to include The New York Times and Newark Star-Ledger}. After a hiatus of several years, Mr. Karade has begun to write speculative fiction having the "mythology" and tenets of Ifa (and other eastern religious and philosophical traditions) as icons, themes, and motifs. Mr. Karade is a veteran and a retired secondary school teacher. He currently serves as an adjunct professor of English at Essex County College, Newark, NJ. He's co-owner/manager of Athletic Arts Academy in Orange, NJ.
