Product Description

by George Otiende Okusi (Author)

A Humble Personality examines the life of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, a figure who appears briefly in the Gospels and is then no longer mentioned.

Scripture provides limited information about Joseph. No words spoken by him are recorded. He is introduced through genealogy, betrothal, and legal standing, and is present during the early years of Jesus' life. After Jesus' childhood, he disappears from the biblical narrative without explanation. The text offers no account of his later life or death.

This book brings together what Scripture does say about Joseph with historical context, theological reflection, and Christian tradition. It considers his lineage, marriage to Mary, work as a carpenter, responses to divine instruction through dreams, role within the Holy Family, and his absence from later Gospel accounts. Where Scripture is silent, the discussion remains within the limits of the text.

Rather than offering a modern biography, the book studies Joseph through the structures in which he lived. Law, family, labor, worship, and communal responsibility, drawing from what is recorded and what remains unstated in the biblical narrative.
