Product Description

by Albert W. Carter (Author)

The purpose of this book is to equip educational support staff with the knowledge, skills, and project-based experiences that will assist them in transitioning into new positions or refresh and sharpen their skills in current positions. The book can also be used by the supervisor and/or Human Resources manager as a guide to use for training, as well as teacher and administrator preparation programs. In A Guide for Educational Support Staff, you will read about the many duties you will be responsible for in your role at an educational institution. You will read scenarios and real-life examples about the situations you may encounter on a daily basis. Complete the exercises, do the research, and continue with the extended activities so that you can get the full benefit of what this book has to offer. The information in this book was created by having discussions with school and university professionals about skills needed and desired for individuals who work in support positions in an educational setting. This book offers suggestions that educational support staff can use as a guide to assist them with functioning successfully in their roles. There are also tips and suggestions for teachers, professors, and others who serve in certified roles.

Author Biography

Dr. Albert Carter has many years of experience in the field of education. He has been a classroom teacher, adjunct university professor, and held several leadership positions in state level education. His background expands many areas, such as recruitment and retention, online and blending learning, student assessment, educator preparation and certification, and federal grant management. His personal philosophy of education is that the teacher should begin teaching and using methods most familiar to themselves and the students and gradually introduce instructional strategies that are new to the teacher and the students. This method both enhances the students and the teacher; both are continuously evolving to become master learners and master teachers. Dr. Carter received a B.A. from Tougaloo College, a M.A. from Mississippi College, and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi.
