Product Description

by Gary Coover (Editor), Adrian Brown (Author)

A delightful selection of popular tunes from the 16th-18th centuries arranged for the Anglo concertina in the harmonic style by concertina virtuoso Adrian Brown. More than 40 tunes are presented with chords and full accompaniment using the same tablature system used by Gary Coover for his tutors and tune collections.

The book includes tablature for both the Jeffries and Wheatstone/Lachenal systems of note layout as well as informative notes on the sources and history of the tunes.

These are not easy tunes, but learning and playing them, in addition to being great fun, will also dramatically improve your concertina playing skills.

Author Biography

Adrian Brown, a musical instrument maker by calling, has conducted extensive research into the history of early music instruments like the recorder. He has measured many original instruments, written several organological studies and made faithful reproductions of historical recorders in his workshop in Amsterdam. In parallel, he has played the Anglo concertina since his teenage years and founded the duo Dapper's Delight with his partner Susanna Borsch in 2009. They have performed in many European countries, North America and Australia. The duo have recorded three CDs that have been widely acclaimed in both the folk and early-music press. Adrian teaches the Anglo concertina both privately and at the annual German Concertina Meeting. He has developed a very personal style on the instrument and his playing has been widely admired both for its originality and technical competence.
