Product Description

by Mercer Addison (Author)

It is 1918 Manhattan where wealth is king. Backstage at the Joyeux Theater, rich playboy Jonathan Drake wakes up in a pool of blood. A bloody knife is in his hand and his lover, Zelda DeLane, the star of Foyle's Follies, is dead beneath him. Jonathan, naked, grabs Zelda's cape and escapes the grasping hands of the stage manager and runs for his life. Liberty Fitzgerald, a nurse for the City's Department of Health, and on her way to work, finds a man hiding on a tenement rooftop wearing a gossamer cape and nothing else. Although, fearful that he's mental and might harm her, she is forced by her conscience to stop and inquire. Is he well? Does he need help? Jonathan talks Liberty into helping him find the real killer. But the real killer proves elusive, and time is running out for Jonathan who has the police and Sing Sing prison closing in.

Author Biography

Mercer Addison It Is Never Too Late To Be What You Might Have Been Quote by author George Elliot When I was a teenager I became acquainted with the author Frank Yerby and his wonderful historical novels. So instead of reading Nurse Marcy books as one my age was supposed to do, I had my face buried in Yerby's, The Foxes of Harrow. While checking out my stack of books, the town's Liberian would scold me and tell me those stories were for a more mature reader and I shouldn't be reading them. I would lie and tell her they were for my mother. As life moves on, I, who never thought of being a writer, was reading a historical romance, and thought just maybe I could do this. I also thought this would be easy, write a story, get it published, and retire rich. It doesn't happen that way. I wrote fiction novels, entered contests, and won numerous first place awards. I took workshops on writing, learned all that I could, and joined numerous writing organizations. I stayed the course, and truly believe that age doesn't matter when you really desire something. As an older writer, I take pride in the fact I have published three books. Even Nectar is Poison Five o'clock Whistle A Deceitful Bait I have lived in the state of Oregon all my life and reside in the Portland area with my wonderful husband, Ty.
