Product Description

by Dave Kovar (Author)

Dave Kovar's expertise as a leader and teacher in the martial arts world, as well as his own journey of fatherhood, gives him a unique perspective to speak out on what it really means to be a Dad. But more than experience, Dave has a passion for helping children and their parents lead healthier, happier lives. A Dad's Toolbox for Better Parenting is a source of constant support and practical inspiration on how to be a better father-the kind of father you want to be and your children deserve.

A Dad's Toolbox for Better Parenting is the essential owners manual for dads. Dave takes a common sense perspective and shares real life examples to illustrate how to put his guidelines into action.

The first section focuses on Parenting Basics and takes you through the 15 guidelines for being a great parent. Each of these is explained in detail and Dave gives specific examples to clearly illustrate the the benefits of following the guideline, and the problems that can arise from not following it.

The second section of the book describes how to keep your kids healthy. Here again, Dave's experience in dealing with lots of kids and dads really shines. Dave shows you how staying healthy can be fun for kids... and for dads. He keeps this same lighthearted tone in the next section on family safety.

Every dad should know how to help their children be successful in school and Dave's tips for helping your kids be successful in school will put your kids on a path to success. Finally, Dave shows you how to help your kids have a great experience in all their extracurricular activities. Whether they play sports, musical instruments or participate in any other after-school activity, A Dad's Toolbox will help you guide your child so that they'll do their very best and love the experience. And you'll have a great time on the sidelines or in the audience.

Author Biography

A father of two, Dave Kovar is known in the martial arts world as the Teacher's Teacher. Since 1978, he has helped over twenty-five thousand students of all ages develop their character and fitness through his Kovar Satori Academy of Martial Arts schools. His innovative Successful Life Skills and School Safe / Street Safe programs have been widely adopted by schools around the world as the standard for character development curriculum. Dave's parenting philosophy was forged during his childhood by parents who Dave describes as sweet, kind and firm. His father, Leonard, is a psychologist and minister who had been a P.O.W. during World War II. Dave s mother, Loraine, worked as an educator who was later in charge of the Head Start Program for a large public school system in Northern California. As Dave's father became successful and highly sought-after in his fields, Dave and his siblings moved several times with their parents. The experience of moving frequently made Dave acutely aware of the difficulties a child faces, especially when he or she is the new kid in school. Taught by his parents to have respect for health and fitness at an early age, Dave has spent his adult life perfecting his approach to helping parents guide their children to better physical, mental and emotional fitness. In A Dad's Toolbox for Better Parenting, Dave has incorporated the attributes of black belt excellence into a set of practical tools to support dads in helping their kids reach their full potential. His tips and guidelines are easy to follow and every dad will benefit from Dave's experiences and insights.
