Product Description

by Menachem Mendel Gershon (Author)With vibrant full-color illustrations and cute poems, A Chanuka & Purim Journey tells of the miraculous victory of the few against many, the Nes of finding an oil jug when the Beis Hamikdash was a mess, and insights into the various Chanuka minhagim. The sizzling hot latkes and delicious donuts are not forgotten, don’t worry! At some point along our journey, we bump into Mr. Dreidel, who shares some of his family history and Chanuka story tidbits. We also learn about the power of light to overpower darkness and the special quality of night number five. After a brief rest stop, our journey continues to the Yom Tov of Purim. The four special Mitzvos of Purim get honorable mention, with interesting details about each one. We meet a jolly clown and hear about dress-up ideas. The other minhagim of Purim take center stage as well, including the scrumptious hamatashen and noisy graggers. In fact, Mr. Hamantash fills us in with some additional details about the Purim story, including how Mordechai gathered the Yiddishe kinderlach to daven to Hashem and the great Nes that occurred, with the entire situation being turned over on its head. A central theme expressed in the book is to take the simcha along with us for the rest of the year.
