Not initially understanding the poor maternal outcomes that currently exist in the United States, the author tells her story from her pre-pregnancy days to her post-partum days and in between. It's an emotional rollercoaster of a mother who is simply trying to live long enough to give her unborn child a chance at life - while fighting the medical providers who are often dismissive and inattentive to the physical and emotional needs of black women. Author Biography
Angela Pie attended Purdue University earning academic and athletic honors. Angela is currently married and residing in Austin, Texas with her husband and four boys. Professionally, Angela has worked in the child welfare system for over 20 years holding various government positions in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Austin and the Northern Territory of Australia. Angela has been dedicated to promoting change for abused and neglected children for the majority of her life. After her traumatic pregnancy with her youngest child, Angela's passion shifted to focus on bringing awareness to the high maternal mortality rates that exist in the United States, while focusing on improving maternal outcomes for all women, but specifically black women.
