Product Description

by Betsy Franco (Author)

Looking for a 1 to 2 minute monologue for an audition, a class, or a presentation? This book is for you Playwright/author/actor Betsy Franco wrote 21 monologues, and they were filmed by her son James Franco for an art installation. Betsy was inspired to write the monologues after holding auditions for her play Metamorphosis, Junior Year. She culled from her plays, screenplays, and novels (both published and in development) and used her experience as an actor to compile the collection. Betsy worked closely with teens from the Palo Alto Teen Arts Council to ensure the book would contain useful, relevant and compelling material.

Author Biography

Betsy Franco is an award-winning author of over 100 published books. Her play Metamorphosis, Junior Year premiered at the Palo Alto Children's Theatre to sold-out audiences, and she is continuing to work with teens on a series of new works. James and Dave Franco, her actor sons, originally pulled her into the world of acting, where she has appeared on TV and in films, and this proved very helpful while writing the monologues. So did her experience as a member of Suburban Squirrel, a sketch comedy troupe. In keeping with Betsy's policy of having teen consultants, she wrote these monologues with the help of students involved with the Teen Arts Council at the Palo Alto Children's Theatre. Her biggest inspiration comes from her three sons James, Tom and Dave, who are fearless in their creativity. For more info, please visit www.betsyfranco.com and www.21monologues.com
