Product Description

by Jack Mitch (Author), Gerry Messmer (Author), Scott Staggs (Author)

An incredible journey of perseverance and history to recreate a 2000 mile trek by General William Henry Ashley and his men from the first Fur Trade Rendezvous of 1825 from southwest Wyoming to St. Louis, MO. These three men replicated this incredible feat of stamina using only what Gen. Ashley and his men would have had with them. They traveled 700 miles on horseback, 400 by bull boat and 900 on the flooded Missouri River using a recreated one third scale keelboat called the Muskrat.

The authors of the book have dedicated a majority of their lives to living history and developing the skills of the mountain men to be able to undertake such a massive and unsupported undertaking. All of them have many years in the woods and wilds of the United States putting into practice and preserving the skills of the Mountain Men of the 1830s that they emulate.
