Icarus, son of the master craftsman, Daedalus, is young, reserved, and confined to his limited freedom. His older brother, Lapyx, and the prince of Crete, Deucalion, take Icarus under their wings and train him in the art of warfare when a threat appears upon their island. The horrifying Minotaur-half man, half bull-threatens the safety of the citizens of Crete, and when Icarus helps trap him within his father's prison, Icarus faces the consequences. Imprisoned in a tower for nearly two years, Daedalus crafts Icarus a pair of wings to escape with, but when the plan goes awry-due to Icarus' passion and foolishness-his life plummets into the ocean and everything he knows is gone. He awakens on the shores of an unknown island where his life is changed forever.
