by Evelyn De Wolfe (Author)

You're in for a treat. especially if you love antique dolls. "Conversations with Mademoiselle ZoZo" is set in rural France and describes the imagined adventures of an actual 200-year-old doll's first 50 years "The charming story of ZoZo, a Grodnertal "wooden" and her various owners begins in the early 19th century during the empire of Napoleon Bonaparte... Although basically a children's book -- the author brings ZoZo to life so that she can converse and share in the adventures of her young mistresses -- it also holds appeal for collectors as a frame of reference in this period of turbulent social changes. Reproduced are images from an 18th century French novelette discovered by the author. The second part of the book is devoted to actual events and fashions of the era, in particular the influences that might have affected ZoZo's wardrobe as she came under the whims of her successive mistresses. The author also includes an empire dress pattern to fit ZoZo's 14 inches. A delightful bit of whimsy, it is sure to find readers of all ages. (Antique Doll Collector Magazine) "I like how you didn't use plain words. You used exciting words." (Gracie -Age 10) "ZoZo lived in luxury and in the very opposite. She learned about history and famous people like Louis Braille, Napoleon, etc... I enjoyed learning all about the little clothes and accessories she was given by each new owner." (Tatiana - Age 11)
