B'one lives in a world without cell phones, tablets, or laptops. Instead, this technology is implanted in individuals as they grow up, except for Gen-Mods. In B'one's world, the Company manages and controls every aspect of life; people are kept calm and happy by the Feed, delivered directly into their minds.
When a personal tragedy causes B'one to run away, she discovers a community of people living beyond the reach of the Company and the Feed. Here, people have had their devices removed and live a free life filled with rituals.
