Bitsy was a smoker then and she had emptied a hot ash tray into the kitchen waste basket, caught it on fire and burned the floor but being a considerate husband I gave her an opportunity to explain by asking What happened? She calmly stated Would you believe spontaneous combustion? I replied, You dont even know what that means. She replied, Well, I know its not my fault To be both quick witted and funny are great traits to have especially when your vocation is writing.
