Addiction refers to a neuropsychological disorder characterized by continued substance abuse or engaging in certain behaviors despite being aware of the associated negative outcomes. Repetitive drug usage affects brain function in ways that prolongs yearning and decreases self-control. Experts have identified two major types of addictions, namely, chemical addiction and behavioral addiction.
