Product Description

by Ralph Strauch (Author)

Look around you. Notice your surroundings. What you see seems solid and real, a fixed objective reality existing "out there" separate from you. But it's not, Ralph Strauch argues in this provocative exploration of perception, reality, and the mechanisms that link them. What you perceive are images you create, part of a grand illusion that you participate in and support. The external world is a "rich reality" -- offering far wider possibilities than most of us realize. THE REALITY ILLUSION explores the mechanisms you use to to bring the particular world you experience into focus, and explores the benefits of more fully understanding the collective illusion we call reality.

Author Biography

Ralph Strauch lives in Pacific Palisades, California, where he practices the Feldenkrais Method and teaches and writes about self-awareness, movement, and the mechanism through which we create our experience. He has been exploring the relationship between perception and reality since the late 1960s, drawing on his background as a mathematician and martial artist as well as on his experience as a Feldenkrais Teacher. Ralph trained with the founder of the Feldenkrais Method, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. He has studied the internal martial arts of T'ai Chi and Aikido, and has a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California. Ralph was formerly a Senior Mathematician with the Rand Corporation, where his research focused on choice in the face of uncertainty.
