The 'New' Indian Manager. Since coming to India in 2005 in his role as a corporate leader, Parag Saigaonkar has watched the Indian business environment from up close and has also been an enthusiastic participant in the India success story. 21st century India is a world away from the licenceraj India of the 1970s and 80s. With its large youth population, impressive English speaking man power and deep pool of professionals, India could well become a leading player in the world economy. But the challenge is that while being well equipped to take on the world, corporate professionals in India have also entered The Perfect Storm. Economic turbulence, an underequipped work-force, the need for soft-skills, balancing social pressures and other factors could well combine to sink all but the sturdiest of ships. The Perfect Storm is an insightful and measured assessment of corporate life, its demands and its upsides and downsides. Its astute observations and seasoned advice, coming as they are from a veteran corporate professional with years of experience in India and abroad, make it a must-read for any young manager poised for a career in the corporate world.
