Real History that Inspires
Dinner Stories evolved from a literary club in which each member was expected to write a paper, preferably an interesting one, and to host a dinner once a year. One longtime member, Daniel Hughes--who loves a good story in which the protagonist inspires the reader in some way--decided to turn his ten-year collection of essays into a book. Each chapter of Dinner Stories was originally intended to be told after dinner, but this fascinating collection of stories of real people who impacted history can be enjoyed at any time. From the well-known to the more obscure, the book provides the back stories that illuminate each subject. The result? Entertaining essays that reveal character and timeless truths.
