The author is a retired Seminary vice-president and theology professor with over half a century of professional Christian ministry experience. He has written a number of theological books on contemporary theology, sin, the church, and salvation. He comes to his work from an evangelical and Baptist perspective.

Author Biography

David L. Smith is a retired pastor and theologian (M.Div., Ph.D. Southern Baptist Theological Seminary), accredited with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario & Quebec. A third generation clergy person, he began pastoral ministry at age 19, and has served churches in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Indiana. He joined the faculty of Providence Theological Seminary as Professor of Theology in 1988, becoming Academic Vice-President in 1992. In 2002, he was appointed Executive Vice-President and Seminary Dean of Heritage Baptist College and Seminary. In 2008, he was called to be Pastor at Westmount Baptist Church in Montreal until retiring. He and his wife, Gail, live in Cambridge, Ontario and attend Stanley Park Baptist Church in Kitchener, Ontario. They have three children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
