Product Description

by Chand Samaratunga (Author)

This "ClearNotes Essentials" booklet provides clear and accurate notes essential to understand, and to score a 5 in AP Physics C - Electricity and Magnetism College Board test. The notes provide you with a firm mathematical and real-life understanding of all AP Physics C - Electricity and Magnetism topics. Covers Coulomb's Law, Gauss's Law of Electricity, Gauss's Law of Magnetism, Ampere's Law, Biot-Savart Law, Lenz's Law, Faraday's Law, and their interpretation via Maxwell's Integral Equations at AP Physics C level. Many examples of applications of these laws are described. Clear definitions of Electric Potential, Electric Current, Capacitance, Resistance, and Inductance are provided along with methodology for calculating these quantities and their energy storage/consumption capabilities. Ohm's Law is derived by examining the electron flow within a conductor. Analysis of electrical circuits is next introduced using Kirchoff's Laws. The student is expected to be familiar with (or should be concurrently taking) either AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC courses.

Author Biography

The author obtained his bachelor's degree in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering with a first class honors from University of Moratuwa in 1982, and a PhD from University of California, Berkeley in 1989. This booklet stems from the author's attempt to utilize his many years of experience in teaching and research in electrical engineering and computer science to make his daughter clearly understand the concepts in AP Physics C.
