Increased female participation in the labour market is a very significant feature of recent economic development. This volume analyzes how demographic conditions have favored or slowed the increase and what the demographic effects of the increase will be.
Author Biography
Brígida García is Professor at the Centre for Demographic and Urban Studies of El Colegio de México, México City. She has published many works on labour markets, the family and gender, and from 1995-99 served as co-chair of the Gender and Population Committee of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP). Richard Anker works for the International Labour Office, Geneva, Switzerland. Antonella Pinnelli is Professor of Social Demography at the Department of Demographic Sciences, University La Sapienza, Rome.
