Princess Alice is eleven years old, and she longs for freedom. She wants to run around with her hair loose and free, climb trees, explore the nearby mountains, and say what she wishes. But because she is the princess, she must follow the rules of her parents, the king and queen. Just before her twelfth birthday, the princess runs away from the castle and goes on her own to the mountains. She tries to build her own home using sticks and branches but doesn't have much success. Then, to her surprise, a bear named Seraphina comes over and offers to help. Princess Alice goes to the bear's cave and stays with her. After the summer passes, Alice and Seraphina set out on a journey to a hidden, magical land-a safe place where the bear can have her cubs. Along the way, the princess and the bear have many helpful and interesting conversations, with Seraphina offering her guidance. Will the bear's advice give the princess the confidence she needs to embark on another adventure by herself? In this children's story, a young princess runs away from home and makes an unexpected friend who teaches her important life lessons and positive affirmations while on the journey of a lifetime.
