At her home in Oregon's Willamette Valley, she continually experiments with the fruits and vegetables that she grows. She is also the author of First Fruits: The Lewellings and the Birth of the Pacific Coast Fruit Industry; The Joy of Pickling, now in its third edition; and The Joy of Jams, Jellies, and Other Sweet Preserves.
